Important Conditions for Land Type Solar Power Plant Installation

Thanks to the incentives and investments made in recent years, the share of solar power plants in energy production has increased rapidly. The return period of the installed SPP facility is directly related to its efficiency. In order to increase efficiency, it is necessary to pay attention to whether the following conditions are met.

1. Ambient Temperature of the Region:

   As the temperature in the environment where the power plant is located increases, the efficiency decreases. Therefore, in a low temperature environment, PV panel efficiency is inversely proportional to temperature.

2. Orientation Angles of PV Panels:

   Maximum energy production in the PV panel occurs when the sunlight falls on the panel surface at 90 degrees. Panel orientation should be made according to the location of the GES facility to be built.

3. Distance of the facility to the interconnected network:

   In order to avoid additional grid connection costs and to minimise energy loss, the proximity of the SPP facility to the interconnected grid is important.

4. Shading:

   For PV panels, it is necessary to select areas where there will be no shadow on it in any way and where there will be no shading during the production period. Care should be taken to avoid trees that are likely to create shading, and high voltage lines or areas around which buildings will be built should be avoided.

5. Suitability of the land for SPP facility:

   The fact that the land has a road frontage, is not qualified agricultural land, and is outside the areas of public interest such as oil production area, protected area will facilitate the permits to be obtained for the SPP facility to be established.

6. Irradiance Level:

   Establishing the power plant in regions with high irradiation levels will increase the efficiency. This will reduce the return period and increase the profitability of the plant.

It will be beneficial for the investors and the country to consider whether the facility meets the 6 conditions mentioned above before establishing a SPP facility.
