Hagia Sophia is located in the Sultanahmet neighbourhood of Istanbul and was built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century. In 1453, Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque with the conquest of Istanbul and started to serve as a museum in 1935. In 2020, it started to be used as a mosque again. Hagia Sophia is an important building for both the Christian and Islamic world with its magnificent mosaics and architecture. Hagia Sophia, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, offers its visitors a historical and cultural journey.
